Such an amazing show! Especially since it was free. He was so nice to talk to and they were all incredibly friendly to the audience and the sound guy. And I got this great shot of George Lewis Jr. as he was crowd surfing. Can't wait till they come to Columbus! If it's anywhere near as good as the show in Cinci, it'll be an amazing night, fo sho.

Goodbye 2010, you were an amazing and enlightening year. Next year I will be out of my school shell and launched into the real world. I wonder how my perceptions of music will change once I'm not in school.

I've included the link to the MP3 with all of these songs. That means you can right-click the blue links and hit "Save As..." and download the mp3 directly from here. Heartland - Owen Pallett - (Lewis Takes Off His Shirt)

Owen Pallet can do no wrong. His albums have gotten progressively better and seeing him live finally this year was a dream come true. Seriously, I've missed him like 3 times throughout my collegiate experience.

Saw him live in New York this summer. I wish I could share his live version of the song. He makes dance music for lonely angels.

Moss of Aura - March/Still Parade - (Cowboy)

This is the one show I missed this year and will probably regret for the rest of my life. He basically captures summer in his music. Imagine yourself running on a beach at sunset with all your best friends.

of Montreal - False Priest - (Enemy Gene)

I think you can hear Jon Brion's production most in this song. Kevin asks, "How can we ever evolve when our gods are so primitive?" I wonder that myself.

Here We Go Magic suprised me this year with one of the best love making albums of the year. This CD and Beach House's Teen Dream. Ready for sexy time?

Sleigh Bells -Treats - (Rill Rill)

Saw these guys three times this year which is actually ridiculous when I think about it. So worth it though. They're amazing all around and this song captures the feeling of youthful happiness so well.

Javelin - No Mas - (Oh! Centra)

This CD was so fun. They make amazing use of chipmunk voices! Please don't let that discourage you though. This song will make you wanna jig. Let's do that barrel roll! Now do the Monkey foot!

The video for this song is one of my favorites of the year. El Guincho seriously knows how to make a catchy song. I'm glad he's not being compared to Panda Bear anymore.

This song makes me think of white bunnies at the North Pole working a toy production line.

Sufjan Stevens - I Walked/I Want To Be Well

Both of these songs are amazing. Highly recommended. I was getting tired of the same old stuff from him. Loved the departure from his old sound and his incorporation of electronics!

Blackbird Blackbird - Heartbeats

This song was a key element to my summer.

Sunglasses - Whiplash

As was this song. Thanks to Erika for the introduction to them. I recently got to shoot some pics of them. They're great to see live, and they're from Savannah, GA. I talked to them after the show and he's been to my hometown Brunswick, GA. This song is too catchy for it's own good.

Arcade Fire - Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)

Regine has an amazing voice. I used to always think of Bjork when I heard her, but I don't get that vibe at all anymore. I'm sure I don't have to say much about the Arcade Fire. But the keyboard is so good in this song.

Wavves - Mickey Mouse

I'm generally not a big fan of Wavves but this is my one exception.

Recently featured on CSI Miami :( Haha I still love it though! Just can't wait till he drops Surfer's Hymn on us.

Tennis - South Carolina

Another song about South Carolina. Sounds like it's from the 50's or something. I listened to this song sooooo many times this year. I guess I could say that about all these songs though. THis song is cute though.

Sunsquints - Basque

This is chillwave at its best! There's something very DIY about it and I looooooove it. "I'm the blue whale, that means I control the killer whales, and I can have the minnows if I want."

Simone Lourenco 's cut out paper designs. For real I this is the prettiest paper art I've ever seen. Love it so much! I wonder how she does it. Seems pretty simple, paper stacked on each other and cut away with an exacto.

Tim Simmons ' illuminated night shot long exposures. I used to shoot a ton of night shots but stopped after highschool. That was the phase that got me into photography but like with all obsessions in my life, I grew out of it and moved on to different things.

Kristy Mitchell 's fantasy photos. The butterflies are great. I want to find some. Are those fake or real?

Cecelia Webber 's flowers made of human forms. It's a great idea. Ben Styles stumbled upon these while I was chilling with him and colt. I'd like to try something more abstract.

Whyyyy do I suck at keeping up with this? Seriously, I'll be really into it for like a week and then nothing for two weeks straight. How does this sustain itself? Bottom line is, I need more initiative, more willpower, more drive to stay focused. I'll post some more. Maybe I should make it a goal to post once every other day? I got my laptop fixed so it shouldn't be a problem anymore. I need to start downloading music again. I've been so out of the art and music loop because I haven't had my bookmarks. They're back now and I want to share what I find!

This is the shot I got of Alan Polomo of Neon Indian at the Southgate House. I'd talked to him last time he came to Cincinnati because all my friends think he looks just like me. I decided that we had to meet and get a picture together. When I talked to him this time he remembered me and I asked if I could take a portrait. We shot it after the show.

I'd love to try to make something like this in a photo. Just elaborate stuff coming out of a head. It's so imaginative and dreamy. I should maybe start collecting little toy animals and painting them crazy colors. And fake flowers. What really gets me is the little streamers. I'm not sure how I would try to convey those. I could definitely use some of that pink goopy stuff in the fridge.

Also, this video is amazing. If you are a Star Wars nerd you are in for a treat. Directed by Eric Power.

This is one of the most beautiful and catchy releases I've heard this year. Laughing Hieroglyphic, the opener is a heart-wrenching song. I haven't heard such good use of an accordian since the Amelie soundtrack. He uses it in such a sad way. For those who haven't heard this overwhelming song, here's Laughing Hieroglyphic. Juan Chao is an interesting photographer with a minimal lens. His photos are pretty barren, nothing much is going on in them but they still capture a simplistic beauty. I of course always love pictures of hands. I've been trying to move away from them this year, hands and mirrors, but I can't help but be attracted to this shot. It's plain but there's a sense of mystery in the fog. There's nothing in the hand but you wonder why and how it's shrouded in a mist.

Dead for a Year

It's been over a year since I've used this. Time to bring it back. The reason it failed before was because it became old. I didn't like posting a picture a day. I knew it wouldn't work because it was too self centered. I now want to use this as a place to post some of my new work, highlight some of my inspirations, post some music and art and just the thoughts i find worth writing down. I want to be honest open and used it as a memory bank.

I’ve always loved to portray myself in art. It’s been an obsession for me. Most of the time I’ll just end up in the picture. I don’t give it much thought, it’s a natural occurrence. But what has always freaked me out is my wondering of if the world will take any notice of it. It’s only a different face. I feel like to be noticed I have to change myself, force a difference from inside myself to the outside. I have to portray myself in a way even I wouldn’t expect. This video is another step in that direction. I don’t want anybody to ever feel like they have a 100 percent concrete view of me. I want this video to throw my viewers off.

I shot myself multiple times in different sections of my body to finally build myself to a complete image, a very scrambled figure. It’s a lot like how I view myself. Somehow all of these images strangely make sense. However dysfunctional it may seem, it comes together to form something I’d like people to see me as. It’s always strange to me how I come together through so many different memories, people, and my conscience. It takes many different little fractions of me before you can finally see the complete image.

I have been reflecting fondly of the past loves of my life in the past few days. I've always been the guys to never hold any grudges after a break-up, and I think that's always been a great thing for me. It's the best when I see them again and am reminded of what you were originally attracted to. After so long you begin to forget why you even broke up, so any memory you have of them becomes nostalgic and warm. It's a great feeling, and a sign of myself getting older and more comfortable with the world and people I've chosen to be close to over my lifetime. Lots of people have dark periods of their life they want to forget, but I think that would be unthinkable for me.

Been taking a lot of pictures recently. Especially since being at my grandma's house. I stayed up all night and waited for the sun to come up. Then I went out and started taking really simple images of the farm and the area around her house. There was the prettiest fog hanging over everything and I don't know if you guys know, but I think in the time before the sun actually comes up is the best. I rarely get to see it so it for this special majesticness to it. I was taking them on slide film and once I get back to Columbus I'm going to develop them and view them on my newly acquired slide projector. It'll be great.

There's something special about my grandma's house. Growing up, I would have so so many dreams taking place here. I haven't had one of those in a while.

This is one of the places I first made some of my night photos, and those have always been so important to the direction of my art. Tonight I went outside and took some more of them with the knowledge I've gained over the years and I'm extremely happy. As I was walking back inside I thought that maybe my fascination with this place has a lot of to with my fascination of childhood. Recently I've been trying to recapture my childhood through old Japanese super hero VHS's. However lame that may seem, I can't get enough of them, because I grew up with them. That was part of my developement.
My fascination with my grandma's house is very similar. I find myself longing for the days my cousin and I would ride around recklessly on the four wheeler, or how me, my brother and cousin put up a fence around our favorite tree to climb because we treated it as our house. Or when we made a chimney in the woods and we would make fires in it. Just little things like that.
I'm just finding myself wanting to document this place. It's a source of something inside me. I don't think I fully understand it now, but it's slowly revealing itself to me as an escape to my childhood. Of course I would want to say something about it with my art.
When I upload them, I'll maybe make a special post dedicated to my trip here, to my childhood, to something I don't have the right words to express. That's what I have pictures for.

Alright, so the studio version of Brothersport has leaked, and I've promised myself not to listen to it until the full things leaks so I can get apple-y and listen to the whole thing in one go. I sorta wish I hadn't listened to Id Engager or whatever that song is called first. It just doesn't make sense, cause Brother Sport is the last song on the album. I'd be like cheating myself. I just can't. Hopefully the album will just leak really soon and I won't have to listen to everybody talking about how good the song is. Hopefully.

But it's coming sooooon!
